Janusz Korczak

Janusz Korczak – actually Henry Goldsmith, also known as: Old Doctor or Mr.Doctor (sometimes written together) was born on 22nd July in 1878 or 1879 in Warsaw. He died on 5th or 6th August 1942 in Treblinka ? a doctor, a teacher, a writer, a journalist, and a social activist of Jewish origin. In 1918 he published an essay ?How to love a child. The child in the family? recognized as the motto of teaching: the child?s right  to death, the child’s right to the present day, the child’s right to be what it is. Korczak will bind his professional and private future plans with struggle for these rights. He became an advocate, a lawyer and spokesman for children. He fought in various fields: as a physician, educator, writer and journalist. Korczak was an advocate of the emancipation of the child’s self-determination and respect for human rights.
